Welcome to Doggie Zen Den

Doggie Zen Den was founded more than 20 years ago by Ellyn Biltz . She built the building from the ground up to provide a place for boarding, daycare and grooming to Plano and the surrounding cities. Ellyn was motivated by providing quality over quantity in the home-away-from-home setting. Nicole Kohanski purchased Doggie Zen Den in 2021 from Ellyn when Ellyn retired to spend more time with her family. Nicole had been practicing as a dog behavior consultant and dog trainer in the DFW Metroplex for several years and found herself frustrated with the lack of options for providing care that focused on behavioral wellness. Her own dogs would visit facilities and come home over tired, stressed and stinky.

While several daycare and boarding facilities exist, Nicole found them to be overcrowded with staff that lacked the training needed to provide best-on-class care. Since her purchase, Nicole has renovated the facilities, reduced group sizes and increased staffing levels.. From updating the retail areas, adding Fear Free paint colors, to adding shade and turf yard options, Nicole continues to invest every year in making Doggie Zen Den a safe, healthy and happy place for dogs and their families.

Nicole's deep-rooted commitment to understanding canine behavior and enhancing the lives of dogs guided the establishment of Doggie Zen Den. With a background in behavioral consulting, Nicole envisioned a facility that not only provided essential services like grooming and boarding but also prioritized each dog’s mental and physical well-being.

Growth and Development

Since our inception, Doggie Zen Den has continually evolved to meet the needs of our furry guests and their families. We started with a small team of dedicated professionals who shared Nicole's vision for creating a safe and enriching environment. Over the years, we have expanded our facilities to include spacious private suites, expansive natural grass play yards, and large climate-controlled indoor playrooms.
